Checking in on the hive is important to monitor the happiness of the bees and progression of the honey. Much of the honeycomb was not capped yet, so we have to wait a little longer to harvest, however some freecomb had been created on top of the frames.
The freecomb is very different to the final honeycomb as it is filled with a runnier nectar rather than the completed honey.
